It’s time to say goodbye!

Nine years ago today I came by to deliver plants and ended up waiting tables. From there I ended up taking over more and more little things until our partner John Mesa (Johnny) passed away in August of 2006. Then Jeff and I had a big decision to make… take it all on or move on. At that time we felt like Johnny’s had legs and we decided to take it all on.

Since then I have had the pleasure of getting to know so many of you and being surrounded by some of the best staff in Santa Cruz. The foundation has been built and now it is time for me to move on.

I love Johnny’s and it will always be my favorite restaurant. So you will see me around I’m sure as a guest soaking up the view, enjoying the fabulous food and being treated to the best service in town.

I leave you in very good hands. The Kash’s who have been our partners for the past 4 years will continue to steer the ship and ensure that the mission of Johnny’s continues. Shannon Ives joined us in February and she is a very talented General Manager. She too will make sure that all the reasons Johnny’s is my favorite place will continue to be.

Thank you for all your love and support over the years. Without all of you it would have never been worth it!

Introducing General Manager Shannon Ives

Originally a local Shannon comes to us from “over the hill”. The restaurant business has been her career for most of her life. She tried a couple of times to get a 9 to 5 job but was always pulled back into the biz.

Shannon loves to cook with her family and has a passion for wine as well.

She has spent time in small family run restaurants as well as more corporate environments. Shannon brings the best of both corporate and family owned business to Johnny’s.

We are excited to have her on the team. Next time you are in and need a wine recommendation ask for her! She would love to meet you and assist.

It is thanks to you all, our lovely customers that we are celebrating this nine year anniversary.

We remember our friend John Mesa this week, without his vision and determination we would not be here today. John – we miss you very much!!!

We hope you will be able to come in sometime during the next month and let us tempt you with decadent specials from our very own Chef Evan!

We look forward to many more years of serving you and yours!

Sincerely,
The Staff of Johnny’s Harborside
